Amos De Roover

I have worked as a DJ for the last 22 years locally, nationally and internationally.  I started from small beginnings and have slowly and steadily climbed the ladder to reach heights I would once never have imagined possible for a boy from a small Yorkshire town, whose early musical heroes were people like Duran Duran, Boy George, Bronksi Beat, Abba, Jackson 5, Lionel Richie, Simon/Garfunkel and many more.

Thankfully my career grew and I took the opportunities presented to me with great aplomb and although my career has mainly centred on my love of Latin music, especially Salsa, being a DJ has given me the opportunity to experience world music at it\'s most raw and fundamental stages.

As I have travelled the world over, I have collected and collated some of the most unusual tracks with such diversification as African tribal music (i.e. Zouk Kizomba) to music from the Far East (i.e. Japanese Bands such as Hijokaidan and Hanatarashi "post-punk/new wave artists").

Being able to bring music to the people and share with them the emotion and passion behind the lyrics and beats fulfils me more than the sometimes soulless playlists usually heard at weddings, birthdays and anniversary celebrations could ever do.  Music is there for a reason - it is an expression of a moment, a feeling, a thought or a lifetime.

In many ways I feel I am blessed culturally.  I have the great fortune to have been born into a multi national and multi racial family and through them I have acquired great knowledge and teachings. My family is global, my relatives of all nationalities and religions and each section of my extended family has been instrumental in furthering my education.

It’s great to be part of the Cultural Collage team and we as a team aim to bring you music from around the world STAY TUNED... DJ Amos De Roover
